Crazy that he’s not in. One of the best players to wear the Blackhawks sweater. I’m a lifelong ’hawks fan who’s always lived in NY and I had the privilege of seeing him play at MSG during a very down time for the ’hawks. They won that night, and though Wilson was on the tail end of his career, he was easily the best player on the ice—and I think the only one not wearing a helmet. (He was grandfathere d in under the rule that said that players who entered the league before ’79 were allowed to choose to go helmetless.) One of the great scoring defenseman in the NHL, a Norris winner, and an excellent and durable all-around player (over 1000 games played). Has also made his mark as one of the better GMs in the league, keeping the Sharks competitive year after year in the age of free agency.

I can't believe WILSON is NOT in the HOF yet. IF any player playing from 2000 - present won a NORRIS, played in 7 all Star Games and dominated like Doug did they would be in HOF for sure, Problem is he played in an era where there was so much competition and so many skilled players/defe nceman, he had to go up against BOURQUE, COFFEY, SUTER, MACINNIS, CHELIOS, LEETCH, HOUSLEY, MARK HOWE, ROD LANGWAY, DENIS POTVIN etc etc 9 outta the 10 Defenceman listed are in HOF... Plus he played and WON "Gold" Championship with Team Canada in 1984, Injuries ended his Career early but he still played a 1000 games and had 800+ points and has 1 of the Best Points Per Game averages for a defenceman in NHL History, HOF needs 2 wake up. I'm glad they put HOUSLEY and MARK HOWE in finally but its DOUG WILSONS turn.
