We have to admit that we were all shocked that Leonard Cohen got inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It isn’t that we did not feel that he deserved it on some level; it is just that we did not think that this was an artist that the Hall would ever nominate let alone induct. With Cohen’s induction, we wonder if this could allow Nick Cave, the eccentric Australian who has been compared to him into the Hall.
Many times when a band gets inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame critics of the group may point to members who may seem undeserving in comparison to their bandmates. Should, Moby Grape ever get inducted that will be one label that they would not have as they were known for the equal contributions of their members.
If you just type “Gang of Four” on Wikipdia, the first entry you will get refers to the leftist faction of four Chinese Communist officials. We’ll let another website discuss Chinese Communism, so we will deal with the British Post Punk band of the same name that may have been just as politically motivated.
As this list (and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame) finds itself with a large amount of Singer/Songwriters, it is sometimes tempting just to say that this was the only genre that we are looking to represent. With Tim Buckley, just calling him a Singer/Songwriter seems so empty.
