gold star for USAHOF

Weeks removed from the 2023 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony, Jacques Rougeau, a former WWE World Tag Team and Intercontinental Champion was asked by Wrestlingnews.co about a potential induction.

Here is what he had to say on that topic:

“I honestly feel from the bottom of my heart if it wasn’t for that big fight we had and all that, The Rougeaus would be in the Hall of Fame because everybody else we worked with that we worked months and years with like The Hart Foundation, The Rockers, The Bulldogs, Tito Santana, and everything I accomplished as The Mountie is incredible, The Jailhouse Match. I could go on and on and on about all the things I’ve accomplished in 11 years. I think that he’s given me a receipt by not putting me in the Hall of Fame”.

The fight that Rougeau was referring to was when he clocked The Dynamite Kid with a roll of quarters backstage at a television taping. Rougeau had three runs with the WWE, competed at six Wrestlemanias, and was in the main event of the 1993 Survivor Series.

In our last list of those to consider for the WWE Hall of Fame, Jacques Rougeau was ranked #117.

A week before Wrestlemania, and only days before the ceremony, the WWE Hall of Fame has announced the fourth inductee of the 2023 Class, which is former WWE performer, Stacy Keibler.

Keibler first entered professional wrestling as one of the Nitro Girls in WCW, and would later become a heel valet, named “Miss Hancock”.  Following the end of WCW in 2001, Keibler was one of the contracts acquired by the WWE, and she would be part of the Invasion storyline, often paired with Torrie Wilson.

Keibler would work programs as the valet of the Dudley Boyz, and later would serve as Vince McMahon’s “Personal Assistant”.  She also had programs with Test, Scott Steiner, The Hurricane, Randy Orton among others.

While Keibler was never a top-flight wrestler, but was one of the better-known personalities under the WWE umbrella during her tenure.

Keibler was ranked #218 on our latest rank of those to consider for the WWE Hall of Fame.  That list will be revised the month after Wrestlemania.

We here at Notinhalloffame.com would like to congratulate Stacy Keibler for this impending honor.

Wrestlemania is coming fast and furious, and we now know our third entrant to the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2023, which is Andy Kaufman.

Kaufman was a popular actor and comedian, who was the breakout star of the sitcom, Taxi.  Always enamoured with pro wrestling, Kaufman incorporated intergender wrestling into his act, and worked that into a money-making angle in Memphis with Jerry “The King” Lawler, that would bleed across Saturday Night Live and Late Night With David Letterman.

We assume that it will be Lawler who will be doing the induction.

This is long overdue, and when the WWE first added a celebrity wing, this is the man who should have spearheaded it.

It will be a posthumous induction, as Kaufman passed aay from cancer in 1983.

It had been speculated for a year that the Great Muta would be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, and it became official yesterday.  The now-retired Japanese legend will be making his first official appearance on live WWE programming at the induction ceremony.

Keiji Mutoh began his career in 1984 s part of the New Japan Pro Wresting Dojo, and he gained experience in his native country and abroad, most notably by adopting the Great Muta gimmick in the NWA, where he dazzled fans with his unique style.  He won the Television Title in 1989, but returned to New Japan shortly after, where he would compete both under his real name and as his painted-face alter ego.

Muta was a top star in Japan throughout the next 20 years, winning every title worth having.  This included the IWGP Heavyweight (4), IWGP Tag Team (6), the G1, All-Japan Triple Crown (3), and All-Japan Tag Team (5).  He also started his own promotion, Wrestle-1.

While Muta never wrestled under the WWE banner, his influence in the current product is universally known.

On our latest Notinhalloffame list of those to consider for the WWE Hall of Fame, Muta was ranked at #18.  He will be removed following the announcement of the full class.

The ceremony will take place on March 31, just before Wrestlemania.

We here at Noinhalloffame.com would like to congratulate the Great Muta for his impending honor.

Days after we congratulated Rey Mysterio for becoming the first member of the 2023 WWE Hall of Fame Class, we now know who is inductor will be.

Konnan, a long-time friend of Mysterio, will have the honors.  The two worked together in AAA and WCW, with Konnan being instrumental in advocating Mysterio who dealt with size issues early in his career.  This will be the first appearance for Konnan on WWE programming in nearly 30 years, as he last performed as the original Max Moon.

We here at Notinhalloffame.com cannot think of a better person than Konnan (who is also the godfather of Dominik Mysterio) to induct Rey Mysterio Jr.

We can’t wait to watch the ceremony take place on March 31, just before Wrestlemania.

We are weeks away from Wrestlemania, but for us, the bigger component is that it is Hall of Fame season.  Last night, on WWE Smackdown, Rey Mysterio, 49, who is an active competitor and looks to be in a major Wrestlemania match with his son, Dominik, was announced as the first member of the 2023 Class.

From San Diego, Mysterio was born Oscar Gutierrez, and first wrestled at the age of 14.  Taking the name of Rey Mysterio Jr., after his uncle, Rey Mysterio, he joined the leading Mexican promotion, AAA in 1992.  He was an instant sensation with his high-flying skills, but at well under 150 pounds, and 5’ 2”, it was highly improbably that Mysterio could make it in the United States, but shattering glass ceilings would become his specialty.

After appearing briefly in ECW in 1995, Eric Bischoff of WCW signed Mysterio, and he was the face of the Cruiserweight division, winning that title five times and the WCW World Tag Team Title three times.  After WCW folded, he would join the WWE in 2002, where he won that version of the Cruiserweight Title multiple times.

Following the death of Eddie Guerrero, Mysterio, who was his on-screen rival, but off-screen best friend was vaulted into the Heavyweight Title scene, winning the 2006 Royal Rumble, and the World Title at Wrestlemania 22.  His title reign was poorly booked, but remained a top-to-middle name performer on the cards for the next nine years, winning other titles and dazzling fans.

Mysterio left the WWE in 2015, but returned three years later, with his most recent success coming in a Smackdown Tag Team Title win with his son, Dominik.  The father and son match could be a show stealer at Wrestlemania.

Mysterio was not ranked on our list of those to consider for the WWE Hall of Fame, as we only rank those who are inactive or over 50.

We here at Notinhalloffame.com would like to extend our congratulate Rey Mysterio for this impending honor.

Every now and then, Hell freezes over, and when it does, it is usually based in the Stamford, Connecticut, the home of the WWE.  Announced today, the Steiner Brothers have been named to the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2022.

The Steiners are one of the most decorated and influential tag teams in wrestling history, and were arguably the most successful tag team of the 1990s.  Debuting as a tag team in WCW in 1989, the brothers would win Tag Team Gold in that promotion seven times, and were also two-time WWF Tag Team Champions.  Internationally, the Steiners won the IWGP World Tag Team Titles twice.

Individually, Rick won the WCW United States Title and was also a Television Champion.  Scott also captured the United States Title and won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship.

Presently, Rick’s son competes as Bron Breakker in NXT, and is one of the fastest rising stars in the brand.  Scott has been vocal in many interviews over the past decade against the WWE and Triple H, and in 2015, he was banned from the Hall of Fame following an incident with Hulk Hogan’s then-wife.

The Steiners are ranked #17 on our latest list of those to consider for the WWE Hall of Fame, and they, along with the other inductees will be removed from our list following Wrestlemania.  We will revise our list shortly afterward.

We here at Notinhalloffame.com would like to congratulated Rick and Scott Steiner for this impending honor.

The third name to the WWE Hall of Fame has been announced, and we have to admit it is a bit of a headscratcher to us.

Joining the Undertaker and Vader, will be Sharmell, the wife of Hall of Famer, Booker T, who performed in the WWE alongside her husband in the mid-2000s.  This makes her the third African-American woman to enter the hall, following Jacqueline and Ethel Johnson.

The winner of the 1991 Miss Black America Pageant, Sharmell joined WCW in 1999 as “Storm” one of the Nitro Girls.  Later christened as “Paisley”, a valet for The Artist “Former Known as Prince Iaukea” and Kwee Wee, she would sign with the WWE following WCW’s demise in 2001.

Assigned to Ohio Valley Wrestling, Sharmell’s wrestling skills did improve, but she would later work a few months as an interviewer on Smackdown, but that only lasted for a few months before she left to pursue individual endeavors.

Marrying Booker T in 2005, she would later join her husband on screen, and when he won the King of the Ring, she was renamed “Queen Sharmell”, and the two would do their best work together, with the two even having a match against the Boogeyman at Wrestlemania 22.

Upset with the company, they left for TNA in 2007, where they wrestled for two years.

We here at Notinhalloffame.com would like to congratulate Sharmell for this impending honor.

If only they did this when he was alive.

The WWE has announced that Vader will enter the WWE Hall of Fame as the second name inducted this year.  The Undertaker was announced last week.

Vader debuted in 1987 and with his size and agility, the former football player was a natural for the ring.  Signing with New Japan in 1989, Vader (then known as Big Van Vader), destroyed Antonio Inoki in his debut, causing the Sumo Hall fans to riot.  He would win their version of the World Heavyweight Title multiple times, and he would sign with WCW in the early 90s, becoming their top heel.

Vader would main event multiple pay per views, including classic bouts with Sting.  With WCW, he won the World Heavyweight Title three times, and could have potentially won more had he not been fired in 1995 following an altercation with wrestler/agent, Paul Orndorff.

Vader signed with the WWE in 1996, and debuted at the Royal Rumble with Jim Cornette as his manager.  His high-water mark was a WWE World Heavyweight title shot against Shawn Michaels at Summer Slam 1996, but he was politically handcuffed and he would slide down the card, leaving the company three years later.

He passed away in 2018 and the age of 62 following a battle with cancer.

Vader is currently ranked on our WWE Hall of Fame list, and will be removed following an overhaul after Wrestlemania weekend.

We here at Notinhalloffame.com would like to congratulate the fans and family of the late Leon White.

Wrestlemania season also means it is WWE Hall of Fame season.

Last week, the Undertaker was announced as the headliner for the 2022 Class.  Yesterday, on Pat McAfee’s podcast, Vince McMahon announced that he would be the Undertaker’s inductor.

It is not often that McMahons, the owner of the WWE since 1982, to makes an on-camera appearance during the ceremony, so this adds to the honor of the induction.  The last time McMahon inducted a performer was in 2009 when he presented “Stone Cold” Steve Austin with his induction.

We are looking forward to see who else joins the Undertaker into this year’s WWE Hall of Fame Class.

Wrestlemania season is coming soon, and there is nobody better to be named as the headliner for the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2022 than the Undertaker.

A native of Texas, Mark Callaway debuted for the WWE as the Undertaker at the 1990 Survivor Series, and at the 1991 Survivor Series, he beat Hulk Hogan for his first World Heavyweight Title.  Since that time, the Undertaker appeared in countless main events, won three more World Titles and headlined multiple Wrestlemanias, most notably amassing a 21-match win streak.

He was given an official retirement last year on an episode of Monday Night RAW.

The Undertaker was ranked at #2 on our last list of those to consider for the WWE Hall of Fame.  Following Wrestlemania, we will be revising our list, and removing all those who were chosen, and reworking the list based on your votes and comments.

We here at Notinhalloffame.com would like to congratulate the Undertaker for this impending honor.

Yes, we know that this is taking a while!

As many of you know, we here at Notinhalloffame.com are slowly generating the 50 of each major North American sports team.  That being said, we have existing Top 50 lists out and we always consistently look to update them when we can and based on necessity. As such, we are very happy to present our pre-2021 revision of our top 50 Green Bay Packers of all-time.

As for all of our top 50 players in football we look at the following:

1.  Advanced Statistics.

2.  Traditional statistics and how they finished in the NFL.

3. Playoff accomplishments.

4. Their overall impact on the team and other intangibles not reflected in a stat sheet.

There are no new additions in the Top 50, but two elevations, from current Packers.  One of which, effects our top five.

As always, we present our top five.  They are:

1. Brett Favre

2. Don Hutson

3. Aaron Rodgers

4. Forrest Gregg

5. Bart Starr

You can find the entire list here.

Rodgers, the reigning MVP, moved up from #6.

The other jump is Offensive Lineman, David Bakhtiari climbed six spots to #30.  He was a First Team All-Pro this year, despite only playing in 12 Games.

We welcome your input and commentsand as always, we thank you for your support.

Last night, the WWE held their Hall of Fame ceremony and in addition to the names that had been previously announced, the WWE added new names to their legacy wing.

Inducted as part of the 2020 Class were:

Ray Stevens

Brickhouse Brown

“Dr. Death” Steve Williams

Baron Michele Leone

Gary Hart

Inducted as part of the 2021 Class were:

Dick the Bruiser

Pez Whatley

Buzz Sawyer

Ethel Johnson

Paul Boesch

We will be working on our WWE revisions, which should be done later this month.

We thought that the WWE Hall of Fame had completed their selections for the combined 2020/2021 Classes, but we were wrong.

Ozzy Osbourne, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as the lead singer of Black Sabbath, will be joining William Shatner as the second Celebrity Wing inductee.

Osbourne was in the corner of the British Bulldogs at Wrestlemania 2 when they won the WWF World Tag Team Championship and during the RAW Guest Host era, he was one of the more entertaining ones. He also performed live at a Smackdown show in 2007.

He joins JBL, Jushin Liger, the NWO, Davey Boy Smith, The Bella Twins, Molly Holly, Eric Bischoff, Rob Van Dam, Kane, The Great Khali and the Warrior Award recipient, Titus O’Neill.

We here at Notinhalloffame.com would like to congratulate Ozzy Osbourne for earning this honor.

Two weeks away from Wrestlemania, it was announced that two former World Heavyweight Champions, Kane and the Great Khali will be entering the WWE Hall of Fame.

Glenn Jacobs, who performed for over two decades as Kane, had his induction announced on this morning’s WWE Network program, The Bump.  The announcement for Khali came from a video from WWE Now India, where it was announced by his former on-screen manager, Ranjin Singh.

Jacobs first joined the WWE as Isaac Yankem DDS, the personal dentist for Jerry Lawler.  After a year, he was repackaged as the fake “Diesel”, which was also brief.  In the Fall of 1997, third time was the charm for Jacobs, as became Kane, the kayfabe brother of the Undertaker, which would become the persona he wrestled under for over twenty years.

Kane became one of the most durable characters in WWE history, going through many changes and winning multiple titles along the way.  He would have huge matches against the Undertaker, Mick Foley, Triple H and many others and was twice the Heavyweight Champion, and a Grand Slam Champion (winning four major titles) with the WWE.  He last appeared as a surprise entrant in this year’s Royal Rumble.

From India, Khali debuted for the WWE in 2006, and would win the World Heavyweight Title in July the following season.  Standing well over seven feet tall, Khali was not a good wrestler, but he would prove to be marketable in the Indian market.  Late in his career, he would be a comedic wrestler, portraying a Punjabi Playboy.

In our latest ranking of those to consider for the WWE Hall of Fame, Kane was at #6, with Khali all the way back at #202.

The 2021 Class also comprises Molly Holly and Eric Bischoff.

It will be a dual ceremony with the 2020 Class; the Bella Twins, JBL, Jushin “Thunder” Liger, “The British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith and the New World Order (Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash & Sean Waltman.

We would like to congratulate both Kane and the Great Khali for obtaining this honor.

So, we have one less WWE Hall of Famer?

Batista was scheduled to enter the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the COVID-19-pushed back Class of 2020.  As we have learned, due to scheduling conflicts, the former multi-time WWE Champion will not be inducted this year. It had been speculated as Batista was no longer listed as part of the Hall on WWE.com, and the “Animal” himself, confirmed it on Twitter:

To the @WWEUniverse Unfortunately due to previous obligations I am unable to be a part of the @WWE #HOF this year. By my request they have agreed to induct me at a future ceremony where I’ll be able to properly thank the fans and people who made my career possible #DreamChaser”

We assume that Batista will be part of a future class.

The 2020 Class now comprises the Bella Twins, JBL, Jushin “Thunder” Liger, “The British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith and the New World Order (Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash & Sean Waltman.  Eric Bischoff and Molly Holly have already been named to the 2021 Class.

We will be paying close attention to see who else will be part of the 2021 Class, and we will revise our Notinhalloffame WWE list after Wrestlemania.

The WWE Hall of Fame has announced the second member of the Class of 2021, and it is Eric Bischoff, the former President of World Championship Wrestling.

Bischoff first worked in wrestling as an announcer in the American Wrestling Association, and would be hired to announce for WCW, albeit on lower-rated shows.  In 1993, He shockingly won the role of Executive Vice President with WCW, and two years later, he would launch Monday Night Nitro, to run in direct competition with the WWE.

Bischoff used the resources of Ted Turner, to not only sign Hulk Hogan, but Kevin Nash and Scott Hall, and Nitro would beat Raw in the ratings 83 weeks in a row.  As this was occurring, Bischoff honed his skills on camera, and played a dastardly heel authoritarian figure.  Bischoff showed marketing skills, cross promoting with other programs, and he became almost as well-known as Vince McMahon.

Ratings would sag, and a burned-out Bischoff was fired in 1999, but he would be asked back as his replacement, Vince Russo, was struggling.  He left again in July of 2000, and WCW continued to plummet.  Bischoff made a pitch to buy the wrestling company, but once they lost television, there was no reason for Bischoff to pursue ownership. WCW would be sold to McMahon at a steal, who acquired the back catalogue and trademarks.

Hell froze over in 2002, when Bischoff appeared on WWE television as the kayfabe General Manager of Raw. He held that role for three years, and was largely praised for his performance.  Bishoff also later worked for TNA.

Bischoff last worked for the WWE in 2019 when he had a brief run as the Executive Director of Smackdown.  He has since made appearances for All Elite Wrestling.

It was also announced last week that there will be a special that will include the 2020 and 2021 Classes.  The 2020 Class comprised of the New World Order (Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and X-Pac), John Bradshaw Layfield, the Bella Twins and Jushin “Thunder” Liger.

We here at Notinhalloffame.com would like to congratulate Eric Bischoff for his impending induction.

One of the casualties of COVID-19 was the deletion of the 2020 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony. It had been unceremoniously dropped, and we have yet to update our official Notinhalloffame.com list, but we will now put it off until after this year’s Wrestlemania, especially now that we know we will have 2021 inductees.

Today, it was announced that Molly Holly will be inducted this year.  Holly (Nora Greenwald) was considered one of the best female workers in the 2000s.  Holly first gained national attention in WCW as “Mona”, part of Randy Savage’s entourage. She signed with the WWE in 2000, as Molly Holly, cousin of Hardcore and Crash.

On screen, she had a relationship with Spike Dudley, and then would become “Mighty Molly”, the sidekick of the Hurricane.  Her best years followed a heel turn after Wrestlemania X8, where she would become a two-time WWE Women’s Champion, with her most famous match coming on the losing end of a hair vs. title match at Wrestlemania XX against Victoria.

Holly left the WWE in 2005, and has sporadically returned, including twice competing in the Royal Rumble.

It was also announced today that there will be a special that will include the 2020 and 2021 Classes.

We here at Notinhalloffame.com would like to congratulate Molly Holly for her impending induction.
