Though it is forgotten by the new generation, there was a time when those who loved Hard Rock/Metal would have nothing to do with those who loved Hip Hop. They seemed like such polar opposites that it seemed virtually impossible for the two camps to possibly merge. After Faith No More arrived, a lot of music fans didn’t think they were so different after all.
Faith No More gained quite a following by blending genres that seemed impossible to do. With a combination of Rap, Metal, Thrash, Progressive Rock and Funk they proved they created a sound that was natural as opposed to the forced concoction that most people thought it would be. When their breakthrough hit, Epic came out it took fans by surprise and forced a lot to adjust how people viewed music. Faith No More never had the same success but their fans found them to be a very diverse and capable band that had multiple layers to them. Credited for helping to usher in future Nu-Metal bands, Faith No More has a better shot to gain induction than a casual fan might realize, though not anytime soon.
