You ever hear a song and you just know the artist is destined to be a one hit wonder? We had that feeling about Daniel Powter’s depressing song “Bad Day”. We know it went to number one and generated a lot of airplay but his saccharin sweet delivery made many musically challenged fans sing along cheerily in their cars. The problem for Powter is that he used up everything he had on that lame song and where exactly do you go from something so syrupy anyway? He painted himself in a musical corner that he couldn’t get out of. That is the trick of your first hit; if you go too far one way (be it sappy, novelty or anything for that matter) you are wearing that label forever. Daniel Powter, thy label is crap!
