Dennis Wideman
Drafted in the eighth round by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2002 Draft, Dennis Wideman would never play for the professional hockey team based in Western New York. Wideman would later sign with the St. Louis Blues but it was later in Boston where he would have his first 50 Point Season in the 2008-09 Season where he finished 11th in Norris Trophy voting, a career high. After stints with Florida and Washington (he would go to his only All Star Game in 2012 as a Capital) Wideman would finish his career in Calgary for five years where he would have a career high of 56 Points in the 2014/15 season.
Despite these highlights, Wideman will always be best known for cross-checking an official, which he claims was inadvertent after having his bell run. Frankly we think there is a lot more to Dennis Wideman’s career to remember than that.
