One of the biggest metrics that can help a football player enter the Pro Football Hall of Fame is a First Team All-Pro, and though there are multiple groups that issue them, it is the AP version that is considered the gold standard.  We look at the winners, and analyze how much this could impact their Hall of Fame potential.

Quarterback: Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs.  Pre-Season Notinhalloffame Active HOF Rank #21, #6 Quarterback. (148 pts, 49 First Place).

Mahomes led the NFL in Passing Yards (5,250), Touchdowns (41) and QBR (77.6), and his Chiefs could win it all again.  He is the favorite to win the MVP, and if he does, it will be his second.  Let’s go one step further, should Kansas City win the Super Bowl, a two-time MVP and two-time Super Bowl champion will not be kept out of Canton.  This could be the year that cements it.

Jacobs captures the All-Pro in his fourth NFL season, while winning his first Rushing Title (1,653 Yards).  A Running Back can make the Hall of Fame without a First Team All-Pro and Rushing Title, but it is a lot easier with them on your resume.  Jacobs is now a bona fide Hall of Fame threat.

Jefferson is in the MVP and OPOY conversation, and he led the NFL in Receptions (128) and Receiving Yards (1,809).  He is now three-for-three in Pro Bowls, and his Hall of Fame stock skyrockets this year.  If Jefferson stays healthy, we see a bust in his future.

Wide Receiver: Tyreek Hill, Miami Dolphins.  Pre-Season Notinhalloffame Active HOF Rank #28, #4 Wide Receiver. (144 pts, 47 First Place). 

Hill was every bit the superstar in Miami that he was in Kansas City, but in what his fourth First Team All-Pro (three as a WR, one as a returner), he shattered his previous record in Receiving Yards (1,710 this year, 1,479 in 2018).  He has been a Pro Bowl Selection all seven of his years, but the WR line is huge to enter Canton.  Hill is way ahead of Jefferson right now, but he does not have a RECY Title like the Viking.

Wide Receiver: Davante Adams, Las Vegas Raiders. Pre-Season Notinhalloffame Active HOF Rank #43, #7 Wide Receiver. (100 pts, 26 First Place). 

Davante Adams’ new team did not do well, but Adams himself was spectacular, posting his second consecutive 1,500-Yard Season, and third straight First Team All-Pro.  The now six-time Pro Bowler should breach 10,000 Yards next year, and he is also 13 away from 100 Touchdowns.  The Canton bar is rising for WR numbers, but Adams shows all the skills to make it.

Aaron Rodgers isn’t a man who holds back, and it’s perhaps why he’s so evident in the public eye, perhaps more so than anyone else in the NFL. When the Green Bay Packers star talks, there’s always a microphone ready to amplify his message. The veteran quarterback can also be viciously amusing, and it’s clear that he has the respect of his team-mates, both past, and present.

In a light-hearted interview, Rodgers echoed previous comments made by Davante Adams when he responded to the return of Allen Lazard after he missed off-season duty as a way to force the issue on a new contract, the 38-year-old joked;

"I mean, it's always tough going from Hall of Famer to Hall of Famer,"

This was a direct response to Adams discussing now working with Derek Carr at the Las Vegas Raiders, having previously had the pleasure of receiving passes from Rodgers for the best part of eight years.

Rodgers is always ready to put himself into the action and to be fair, he is a big part of Green Bay and is pretty much the unofficial spokesman for a team he has represented with honor for 17 seasons.

It’s now 12 years since Rodgers picked up his sole Super Bowl championship and arguably a second, if well overdue. You can’t fault the efforts of the outspoken QB; he has, after all, been named the NFL MVP for two seasons in a row and four times in total.

The departure of Adams may harm such hopes, and the connection that Rodgers had with the 29-year-old wide receiver was palpable. This didn’t stop him from turning down a new Packers deal and instead took a five-year offer from the Raiders said to be worth over $141 million.

The reasons for the move were not just financial as Adams was keen to connect again with Carr, who was a college team-mate back in Fresno State. 

Now Rodgers needs Lazard to step up, and the 26-year-old certainly upped his game in 2021, collecting eight touchdown passes, a total that was more than his previous two completed seasons combined.  

Aaron Rodgers turned up for training camp in an outfit that was instantly compared to that worn by Nicolas Cage in Con-Air, and while such a move is classic Rodgers behavior, it’s always important to remember, if it was not already abundantly clear, that while the 10-time Pro Bowl pick is always ready to crack a joke (even at his own expense), there are few NFL players that take the game as seriously as Aaron Rodgers.

The top Wide Receiver at Fresno State, Davante Adams joined the Green Bay Packers as a Second Round Pick in 2011. Adams was just under 500 Yards in each of his two seasons, but in his third season, he broke out as a top option.

Adams went to his first of five straight Pro Bowls, with the latter two years establishing him as one of the top players at this position.  A First Team All-Pro in both 2020 and 2021, Adams led the NFL in Touchdowns with 18 in 2020, and had another three 10-plus years in that metric.  Emerging as the favorite target for Aaron Rodgers, Adams had 1,374 Yards and 1,553 Yards in 2020 and 2021 respectively, and was the top offensive weapon for one of the most feared teams in the NFL.  The Packers made the playoffs six times with Adams on the squad, and were Super Bowl contenders through the majority of his time as a Packer.

Two years into his run in Las Vegas, Davante Adams has proven that he did not need Aaron Rodgers to be an elite Wide Receiver. 2022 was Adams' second 1,500-yard year while maintaining his Pro Bowl and First Team All-Pro streaks, though those were broken in 2023 (though he still broke 1,000 Yards). Last year, Adams went over 10,000 Yards for his career, and he is only five Touchdowns away from 100. 

Currently, his 95 TDs places him atop the active leaders, and if he does get to 100 this year he will be in the top ten all-time.   The only players not in the Hall who is in the Hall are Larry Fitzgerald (not eligible yet) and Antonio Gates (who will get in soon).  That is a lovely group that he is closing in on.
