After the 1893 Season, George Van Haltren’s contract was sold to the New York Giants, and this is where he spent the next seasons, which by far eclipsed the first portion of his career.
A starting Outfielder for most of his time in New York, Van Haltren compiled at least 175 Hits in his first eight years with the Giants and batted over .300 in all of those seasons. A competent hitter, Van Haltren could also do damage on the bases and swiped 320 in New York.
As a Giant, Van Haltren amassed 1,580 Hits with a .321 Batting Average.

Dexter Lawrence is more of a nose tackle, and if we focus on that role, Lawrence is one of the best in the business.

After five seasons with the Carolina Panthers, Brian Burns is now a New York Giants, hopeful of adding a third Pro Bowl. If the Giants do well this year, Burns will play a massive part in that success.
Yes, we know that this is taking a while!
As many of you know, we at Notinhalloffame.com are slowly generating the top 50 of each major North American sports team. That being said, we have existing Top 50 lists and consistently look to update them when necessary and based on necessity. As such, we are delighted to present our post-2023 revision of our top 50 New York Giants.
As for all of our top 50 players in football, we look at the following:
1. Advanced Statistics.
2. Traditional statistics and how they finished in the National Football League.
3. Playoff accomplishments.
4. Their overall impact on the team and other intangibles that are not reflected in a stat sheet.
Last year, the Giants had another losing season and failed to make the playoffs. There were no new entrants or elevations, but two players came close to making the Top 50.
As always, we present our top five, which (obviously) saw no changes:
1. Lawrence Taylor
2. Emlen Tunnell
3. Rosey Brown
4. Mel Hein
5. Michael Strahan
You can find the entire list here.
We thank you for your continued support of our lists on Notinhalloffame.com.

Last year, the Giants finally turned the corner to become a competitive NFL team, but they are young and the franchise is old. This resulted in no changes in the Top 50, but we always acknowledge that the past season was taken into account.
As always, we present our top five, which was not affected by the last season:
3. Rosey Brown
4. Mel Hein
You can find the entire list here.
We welcome your input and comments and as always, we thank you for your support.

Last year, the New York Giants had another year of rebuilding, and failed to make the playoffs. There were no new players who made the Top 50, nor were there any on the list who were active in 2021 who advanced their rank, but nevertheless, we felt it prudent to recognize the past season was acknowledged.
As always, we present our top five:
2. Emlen Tunnell

Despite all of the above, here is what we have in terms of revisions:
Nothing.
None of the players who played for New York in 2020 rose their stock to crack our top 50, though this is a very old franchise, so that is not surprising. Nevertheless, we thought it prudent to mention what we have been working on.
As always, we present our top five immediately.

"Silent" Mike Tiernan played his entire baseball career at the highest level with the New York Giants (1887-99), where the Rightfielder (pardon the pun) quietly was once of the better hitters of the 1890s.
Art Fletcher made his way to the Major Leagues in 1909, where the Shortstop landed with the New York Giants. Two years later, he was their starter, and he would be one of the best defensive players of the 1910s.
In the first half of the 1900s, Hank Gowdy was one of the more popular players who arguably was not an offensive star.
Alvin Dark had an excellent start in baseball, as he was the Rookie of the Year in 1948 with the Boston Braves. He was a huge part of Boston’s surprise run to the World Series (they lost to Cleveland), but he was traded to the New York Giants two years later, which proved beneficial for both sides.
Drafted in 2004 with the first overall pick by the San Diego Chargers, Eli Manning did not want to play for the Bolts, and he was quickly dealt to the New York Giants, where he would play his entire career. A four-time Pro Bowl Selection, he would take the Giants to two Super Bowl Championships, both against the heavily favored New England Patriots, the first of which was when the Pats were undefeated going into the big game. Notably, he was the Super Bowl MVP in both of their title wins.
Yes, we know that this is taking a while!
As many of you know, we here at Notinhalloffame.com are slowly generating the 50 of each major North American sports team. We have a new one to unveil today, that of the New York Giants.
In 1925, the New York Giants were one of five teams that joined the National Football League, and of those five, they are the only ones that are still in existence.
The Giants have been in existence for nearly a century and have won eight Championships. The first four as NFL Champions (1927, 1934, 1938 & 1956) and they were a perpetual contender in the early 1960s. In the Super Bowl Era, they won in 1986 (XXI), 1990 (XXV), 2007 (XLII), and 2011 (XLVI).
Eight Championships is impressive regardless of the league and the sport!
As for all of our top 50 players in football we look at the following:
1. Advanced Statistics.
2. Traditional statistics and how they finished in the NFL.
3. Playoff accomplishments.
4. Their overall impact on the team and other intangibles not reflected in a stat sheet.
Remember, this is ONLY based on what a player does on that particular team and not what he accomplished elsewhere and also note that we have placed an increased importance on the first two categories.
This list is updated up until the end of the 2019 Season.
The complete list can be found here, but as always, we announce our top five in this article. They are:
3. Rosey Brown
4. Mel Hein
5. Michael Strahan
We will continue our adjustments on our existing lists and will continue developing our new lists.
Look for our more material coming soon!
Up next, will be the top 50 Los Angeles Chargers.
As always we thank you for your support.
Ron Johnson played as a rookie for the Cleveland Browns after being a First Round Pick from Michigan. His first year as a professional football player was decent with 636 Yards From Scrimmage and seven Touchdowns, but he, along with two other players, was put in a package for Wide Receiver, Homer Jones.
Greg Larson is one of the most underrated players in the history of the New York Giants, likely because he played his entire career when the Giants were not at an elite level.
Homer Jones was two picks away from being “Mr. Irrelevant” in the 1963 NFL Draft, but he initially signed with the Houston Oilers of the AFL, where he could stay close to home. That move didn’t work out, as he was cut in training camp, but the Wide Receiver would find work with the team that drafted him in the NFL, the New York Giants.
One of the most fun teams to watch in college football was the Miami Hurricanes of the 90s and early 00s. One of the great players of their 2001 BCS Championship Team was Tight End, Jeremy Shockey, who was an All-American that championship year.
Jack Stroud played his entire NFL career with the New York Giants, where the dual-sport star from Tennessee (Football and Track & Field) became an unsung hero for the Giants.
After four years with the Cleveland Browns, Shaun O’Hara signed with the New York Giants as a Free Agent in 2004. It would prove to be beneficial for both parties.
The New York Giants were one of the best teams in the NFC in the late 1980s, and Mark Bavaro was their Tight End during their best period.
