The longtime News Director at W.K.R.P., Les Nessman, was a serious news reporter. Or at least he thought he was. The winner of multiple awards for his farm reporting, Nessman often whiffed on serious news stories and was known to mispronounce many words. While he never did get the overall respect he felt he deserved or walls for an office, he did cover the great turkey giveaway. "Oh My God, they're turkeys" is as iconic a news statement on par with anything Walter Cronkite ever uttered.
