It is another sad day in the world of hockey as Dickie Moore, the legendary Hall of Famer and Montreal Canadians legend passed away today at the age of 84.
Moore would win six Stanley Cups as a member of the Canadians, playing alongside Maurice “Rocket” Richard and Jean Beliveau. Moore was not just a participant, but a legitimate star in his own right, leading the National Hockey League in scoring twice and was an integral part of all of his six Stanley Cup rings.
Moore could not only score as he was known for his defensive skills and aggressive style of play and locker room leadership.
The forward would be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1974 and in 2005 would have his number retired by Montreal.
We here at Notinhalloffame.com would like to extend our condolences to the friends and family of Dickie Moore at this time.
Hockey Hall of Fame inductee and five time Stanley Cup Champion, Bert Olmstead, passed away today at the age of 89.
Olmstead officially made the National Hockey League in 1949 as a member of the Chicago Blackhawks but it was a trade to the Montreal Canadians where the left winger would really blossom. In the 1950’s, Olmstead would help the Habs win four Cups and would lead the NHL in Assists twice. He would also be named a Second Team All Star two times.
He would be selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Intra-League Draft in 1958 and would win his fifth Cup in blue and white. Four years later, Olmstead would again be left unprotected in the Intra-League Draft and would retire rather than report to the New York Rangers.
Olmstead would retire with 602 career points over 848 NHL games.
We here at Notinhalloffame.com would like to extend our condolences to the friends and family of Bert Olmstead at this time.
It was announced this weekend that former five time Stanley Cup Champion, Jimmy Roberts passed away from a long battle with cancer at the age of 75.
Roberts would first join the Habs in the 1963/64 season and in the following two seasons would help Montreal win two Stanley Cups. The Torontonian would be taken by the St, Louis Blues in the 1967 Expansion Draft, but he would return to the big dance helping the expansion team make (though lose) the Stanley Cup Finals in the franchise’s first three years of existence.
The defenceman would be traded back to the Montreal Canadians and would again help the team to win three more Stanley Cups in 1973, 1975 and 1976. He would score 320 Points in total during his NHL career.
We here at Notinhalloffame.com would like to extend our condolences to the friends and family of Jimmy Roberts at this time.
