2023 Pre-Season Rank Unranked.  Peak Period 2019-23

Chubb is a two-time Pro Bowl Selection but he begins the season on the IR, having suffered a torn ACL in December.

Yes, we know that this is taking a while!

As many of you know, we at Notinhalloffame.com are slowly generating the top 50 of each major North American sports team. That being said, we have existing Top 50 lists and consistently look to update them when necessary and based on necessity. As such, we are delighted to present our post-2023 revision of our top 50 Miami Dolphins.

As for all of our top 50 players in football, we look at the following:

1.  Advanced Statistics.

2.  Traditional statistics and how they finished in the National Football League.

3.  Playoff accomplishments.

4.  Their overall impact on the team and other intangibles that are not reflected in a stat sheet.

Last year, Miami made it back to the playoffs, backed by an exciting offense, but the eventual champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, bounced them.  Despite this, there were no new entrants and only one minor elevation.

As always, we present our top five, which saw no changes:

1. Dan Marino
2. Jason Taylor
3. Zach Thomas
4. Bob Griese
5. Jim Lange

You can find the entire list here.

Cornerback Xavien Howard, who is no longer with Miami, had the only change by moving up one spot to #27.

We thank you for your continued support of our lists on Notinhalloffame.com.

As many of you know, we here at Notinhalloffame.com are slowly generating the 50 of each major North American sports team. That being said, we have existing Top 50 lists out and we always consistently look to update them when we can and based on necessity. As such, we are very happy to present our post 2022 revision of our top 50 Miami Dolphins.

As for all of our top 50 players in football we look at the following:

1. Advanced Statistics.

2. Traditional statistics and how they finished in the National Football League.

3. Playoff accomplishments.

4. Their overall impact on the team and other intangibles not reflected in a stat sheet.

Last year, the Dolphins were a playoff team for the first time since 2016. Saying that, only one current player climbed the rank, and there were no new entrants.

As always, we present our top five, which was not affected by the last season:

1. Dan Marino

2. Jason Taylor

3. Zach Thomas

4. Bob Griese

5. Jim Langer

You can find the entire list here.

The only movement was Cornerback, Xavien Howard, who went up by three to #28.

We welcome your input and comments and as always, we thank you for your support.

3.  Playoff accomplishments.

Last year, the Dolphins emerged as playoff contenders last year, and should be this season.  There are no new entrants our list, but one significant jump, though did not impact the top 30.

As always, we present our top five:

1. Dan Marino

2. Jason Taylor

3. Zach Thomas

4. Bob Griese

5. Jim Langer

The only change was Cornerback, Xavien Howard, who is a two-time leader in Interceptions and now a three-time Pro Bowl Selection, moved up from #49 to #31..

We welcome your input and comments and as always, we thank you for your support.

2023 Pre-Season Rank: #50, 2022 Pre Season Rank #61, 2021 Pre-Season Rank #114.  Peak Period: 2017-18/2020-23

After rocketing up this list off the strength of a monstrous 2020, where he was third in Defensive Player of the Year voting, Xavien Howard continued to have good years, but in 2023, foot issues hampered his speed. After a sub-par season by his prior standards, Miami released him.

He still has not found a team, and off-field issues have played a part in that, but Howard could still offer a lot to an NFL team if 100 percent.

As for all of our top 50 players in football we look at the following:

1.  Advanced Statistics.

2.  Traditional statistics and how they finished in the NFL.

3.  Playoff accomplishments.

4.  Their overall impact on the team and other intangibles not reflected in a stat sheet.

This is our first revision after our inaugural unveiling, only one new entry.

As always, we present our top five here.

1. Dan Marino

2. Jason Taylor

3. Zach Thomas

4. Bob Griese

5. Jim Langer

You can find the entire list here.

Cornerback, Xavien Howard, is the lone debut, coming in at #49.

We welcome your input and comments and as always, we thank you for your support.

27. Xavien Howard

Xavien Howard came to Miami via the NFL Draft when the Defensive Back from Baylor was taken in the Second Round.

157. Cameron Wake

Despite playing for a college juggernaut like Penn State, Linebacker Cameron Wake was not drafted in 2005.  He signed with the New York Giants as a Free Agent, but failed to make the team, but he continued to work out and hope for an opportunity, but it took a detour to Canada to get him to the NFL.

Wake made the B.C. Lions in 2007, and in the next two seasons, he was named the CFL Most Outstanding Defensive Player in both of them.  The NFL could not ignore that, and he signed with the Miami Dolphins, who were one of several teams interested in the former Nittany Lion.

Wake was a back-up as a 27-year-old NFL rookie, but he became a regular starter on the edge the year after and was one of the top pass-rushers over the next nine seasons.  Going to five Pro Bowls, Wake was a First Team All-Pro in 2012, and he had five 10-plus Sack years, peaking with 15 in 2012.

Age caught up to Wake, and his final season in Tennessee (2019) was sub-standard compared to what he did before, but he accumulated 100.5 Sacks, an incredible accomplishment considering when he made it to the NFL.

Yes, we know that this is taking a while!

As many of you know, we here at Notinhalloffame.com are slowly generating the 50 of each major North American sports team.  We have a new one to unveil today, that of the Washington Football Team.

The Miami Dolphins entered the world of Pro Football in 1966 when they joined the AFL.  Once the leagues merged, the Dolphins emerged as one of the first elite powers of the conference in the early 70s, something that seemed incomprehensible based on their early struggles.

The Dolphins went to Super Bowl VI, losing to Dallas, but they would then put forth an undefeated season in 1972 and would win Super Bowl VII, which to date is the only time a team has gone an entire year without a loss. The Dolphins repeated as Super Bowl Champions the following year.

That was the last Super Bowl win for the Dolphins, but they did appear in the big game twice in the 1980s.

As for all of our top 50 players in football we look at the following:

1.  Advanced Statistics.

2. Traditional statistics and how they finished in the NFL.

3. Playoff accomplishments.

4. Their overall impact on the team and other intangibles not reflected in a stat sheet.

Remember, this is ONLY based on what a player does on that particular team and not what he accomplished elsewhere and also note that we have placed an increased importance on the first two categories.

This list is updated up until the end of the 2019 Season.

The complete list can be found here, but as always, we announce our top five in this article.  They are:

1. Dan Marino

2. Jason Taylor

3. Zach Thomas

4. Bob Griese

5. Jim Langer

We will continue our adjustments on our existing lists and will continue developing our new lists.

Look for our more material coming soon!

As always we thank you for your support.

Miami Dolphin in the first six years and change of his career, Chris Chambers had an underrated career.

45. Randy Starks

Randy Starks began his NFL career with four seasons with the Tennessee Titans, and putting it in a matter of fact terms; they were not extraordinary.  The Dolphins signed him as a Free Agent in 2008, and after a year as a defensive role player, he found his niche.

49. O.J. McDuffie

The Miami Dolphins grabbed O.J. McDuffie 25thOverall in the 1993 Draft, and like so many Wide Receivers, he was used mostly as a Returner as a rookie.

A product of the University of Texas, Glenn Blackwood, played his entire nine-year career with the Miami Dolphins after they took him in the Eighth Round in 1979.

48. Brent Grimes

Brent Grimes had already been in the NFL for six seasons (2007-12) with the Atlanta Falcons, going to the Pro Bowl in 2010m but when he signed with the Miami Dolphins as a Free Agent in 2013, it was not likely thought that he would be the top Defensive Back with the team.

47. Reshad Jones

Reshad Jones played the entire decade with the 2010s with the Miami Dolphins, and the Georgia Bulldog was arguably one of the most underrated Defensive Backs during that time.

The teams of the National Football League passed on Utah’s Manny Fernandez, but he landed a job with the Miami Dolphins, who signed him in 1968, and he would subsequently make the team.

42. Brock Marion

Brock Marion won two Super Bowls with the Dallas Cowboys, but when he was a Free Agent in 1998, he signed with the Miami Dolphins, where he would have a greater role in their defense.

41. Roy Foster

Roy Foster went coast-to-coast in his college to pro transition when he went from USC to Miami as a First Round Pick in 1982.

40. Reggie Roby

Not a lot of Punters get drafted, but Reggie Roby did in 1983 when the Iowa Hawkeye was chosen in the sixth round.

39. Mike Pouncey

The twin brother of Maurkice Pouncey was also an NFL Center, and while he did not become an All-Decade team member, he was a very good player in his own right.
