Many of Laura Nyro’s songs became hits; though ironically not in the version that Nyro herself sung. An influential songwriter who touched many artists, Nyro left behind a long legacy of Singer/Songwriter material, yet did so in the vein of a Poppish, R&B style. She is far from the best known artist enshrined in Cleveland, but those that knew her respected her.

Inducted in 2012. From New York City, New York, U.S.A.

189. Blue Cheer

Many entries on this list discuss Heavy Metal acts and whether the genre will receive long term respect from the Hall. Should that happen, we wonder if one of the bands that get credit for popularizing it, Blue Cheer may get a look from Cleveland.

199. The Human League

After the induction of Grandmaster Flash, there has been a lot of debate among music fans about whether Rap acts belong in the Hall. There really hasn’t been any debate about Synth Pop bands as without any inducted the trigger for debate has yet to begin. We here at NIHOF wonder if one of the more successful and influential bands, the Human League were to get in, whether that debate would rage as loud as the Rap one.

203. Sir Douglas Quintet

When we look at out list we see many artists who had a broad appeal that they could have came from any English speaking country. This is certainly not the case for the Sir Douglas Quintet as a listen of their music and the time period of which it came from, really could it have come from any place other than Texas?
