Peak Period: From 2017-19 to 2023-24. Allen has played seven seasons, which is the maximum for the Peak Period.
When Jarrett Allen was traded from Brooklyn to Cleveland, it appeared that it would be an unfortunate move for the Center, but Brooklyn imploded, and Cleveland exploded, and Allen is now a former All-Star on a rising team.
Yes, we know that this is taking a while!
As many of you know, we at Notinhalloffame.com are slowly generating the top 50 of each major North American sports team. That being said, we have existing Top 50 lists and consistently look to update them when necessary and based on necessity. As such, we are delighted to present our post-2023-24 revision of our top 50 Cleveland Cavaliers.
As for all of our top 50 players in basketball, we look at the following:
1. Advanced Statistics.
2. Traditional statistics and how they finished in the National Basketball Association.
3. Playoff accomplishments.
4. Their overall impact on the team and other intangibles that are not reflected in a stat sheet.
Last year, Cleveland had a good season and continued to build around their young and dynamic team. There was no new entrant but five elevations.
As always, we present our top five, which saw no changes:
1. LeBron James
2. Mark Price
3. Brad Daugherty
4. Zydrunas Ilgauskas
5. Larry NanceYou can find the entire list here.
Center and 2022 All-Star Jarrett Allen broke into the top 15 and is now at #11. He was ranked at #22 before
The returning Tristan Thompson inched up one spot to #12.
Superstar Donovan Mitchell, who has only been a Cavalier for two years, rocketed up the list from #40 to #20. Only in Basketball can we see that happen!
Guard Darius Garland advanced to #31 from #36.
Power Forward Evan Mobley went to #32 from #45.
We thank you for your continued support of our lists on Notinhalloffame.com.

Last year, Cleveland returned to the playoffs after a significant drought, and this generated some list fluctuation with two new entrants.
As always, we present our top five, which was not affected by the last season:
1. LeBron James
2. Mark Price
5. Larry Nance

Kevin Love, who was traded during the year to Miami, was unable to rise from his #8 spot.
Jarrett Allen shot up to #22 from #35.
Another significant jump came from Darius Garland, who advanced from #49 to #36.
Donovan Mitchell, who just had the best season of his career, debuted at #40.
The second new player is Evan Mobley, who comes in at #45.
We welcome your input and comments and as always, we thank you for your support.
Evan Mobley was the 2021 Pac-12 Player of the Year, and was grabbed by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the Third Overall Pick in the following draft.
The Power Forward was a n immediate starter, averaging 15.0 Points per Game as a rookie, and earned a First Team All-Rookie Selection. Last season, Mobley was part of a rising Cleveland squad that added Donovan Mitchell. Mobley increased his PPG to 16.2, and led the NFL in Defensive Win Shares (4.9). He was also named to the All-Defensive Team.
Mobley still was good in his third season (15.7 PTS and 3.2 Steals per Game) but only played 50 Games due to knee issues. Providing Mobley stays with Cleveland, we could see a potential top ten player on this list, especially of the trending upwards Cavs.
The NBA is so much different than the other Big Four Sports in North America as you can’t expect a player to rank in the Top 50 after only playing one season on an established team, but that is the game of basketball, and here we have Donovan Mitchell, who established that he was the heart of Utah’s previous success, and not Rudy Gobert.
The Cavaliers gave up a lot to get Mitchell (Collin Sexton, Lauri Markannen and five 1st Round Picks) and though it is early, Mitchell provided Cleveland with his best year to date, a Second Team All-NBA with a 28.3 PPG. The Shooting Guard went to his fourth All-Star Game, took Cleveland to the playoffs, and is the piece they will build around.
Time will quickly tell how that pans out.

Last year, Cleveland showed improvement and have the makings of a squad that could make some noise this season. Last year resulted in two new entrants and one minor elevation
As always, we present our top five, which was not impacted by last season:
1. LeBron James
2. Mark Price
5. Larry Nance

Kevin Love moved up one spot to #8.
Debuting at #35 is Center and 2022 All-Stars, Jarrett Allen and Darius Garland at #49.
We welcome your input and comments and as always, we thank you for your support.
Darius Garland was a three-time recipient of the Tennessee Mr. Basketball Award (2016-18) and after a year at Vanderbilt, the Guard was taken with the Fifth Overall Pick (2019) where he landed with the Cavaliers.
Garland became the answer to the trivia question, “Who is the first player to be born in the 2000s to play in the NBA”, but the former Commodore has shown progression in all three of his pro seasons, immediately becoming a starter, and working his way to the All-Star Game in year three. That was the season where he broke out with 21.7 Points and 8.6 Assists per Game, the latter stat placing him sixth overall. Garland was also a Finalist for the Most Improved Player of the Year Award, losing to Ja Morant. Two years ago, Garland had similar numbers (21.6 PPG), and helped the Cavaliers make the playoffs. Garland averaged 18 Points per Game last season and again aided the Cavs in making the playoffs.
Entering his sixth campaign, Garland is a player to watch, and could be the catalyst for a deep playoff run in Cleveland.
Jarrett Allen was a proven commodity in Brooklyn, but there were pieces that had to give to engineer the trade of James Harden to the Nets. Allen was one of those components, and as part of a four-team trade, he was off to Cleveland.
The move seemed like a step down in terms of overall talent for Allen, but time is telling a different story. Allen’s numbers in his first full season with the Cavaliers (2021-22) were the best of his career, where he added his first All-Star Game appearance, and posted career-highs in Points (16.1), Rebounds (10.8) and PER (23). Allen slipped a bit the following season (14.3 PPG and 9,8 RPG), but came back with a double-double average last season (10.5 Rebounds & 16.5 Points). More importantly, he anchored he Cavs to a decent playoff run, and is still a very young player.
Pre-2022-23 Rank: #44, Pre-2023-24 Rank: #32.
Peak Period: From 2017-18 to 2023-24. Mitchell has completed only seven seasons, the maximum of a Peak Period.
Unlike DeShaun Watson, Cleveland agrees with Donovan Mitchell.
Mitchell was a three-time All-Star at Utah, but the pairing between himself and Center Rudy Gobert was not working, and bluntly, they did not get along. The Guard was traded to the Cavaliers, where in his first season, he was sixth in MVP voting and was an All-NBA Selection.
Going into this campaign, the Cavs are on the rise, and Mitchell’s best basketball could still be ahead of him.

1. LeBron James
2. Mark Price
5. Larry Nance

Kevin Love, moved up one spot to #9..
Notably, Collin Sexton, almost made the list, but his horrible defense kept him from making our top fifty.

As many of you know, we here at Notinhalloffame.com are slowly generating the 50 of each major North American sports team. We have a new one to unveil today, that of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Cavaliers were formed in 1970, but it was not until they drafted LeBron James. They would reach the NBA Finals for the first time in 2007, but James grew frustrated and took his talents to the Miami Heat. He returned and brought Kevin Love with him and joined a team that had Kyrie Irving. The Cavaliers would win the Eastern Conference four years in a row (2015-18), and they would win their first and only championship in 2016.
As for all of our top 50 players in basketball we look at the following:
1. Advanced Statistics.
2. Traditional statistics and how they finished in the NBA.
3. Playoff accomplishments.
4. Their overall impact on the team and other intangibles not reflected in a stat sheet.
Remember, this is ONLY based on what a player does on that particular team and not what he accomplished elsewhere and also note that we have placed an increased importance on the first two categories.
This list is updated up until the end of the 2018-19 Season.
The complete list can be found here, but as always we announce our top five in this article. They are:
1. LeBron James
2. Mark Price
5. Larry Nance
We will continue our adjustments on our existing lists and will continue developing our new lists.

As always we thank you for your support.
Daniel Gibson played his entire seven-year career in the National Basketball Association with the Cleveland Cavaliers where he mostly came off the bench. Still, Gibson would have two seasons where he managed to average over 10 Points per Game (2007/08 & 2010/11) and was a part of four playoff teams, including the 2007/08 season where Cleveland went to the Finals. That year had a post-season PER of 16.8.
A member of the Cleveland Cavaliers for two and a half seasons, Cliff Robinson would put his best career rebounding metrics of his career while playing there. In Robinson's two full seasons in Cleveland, he would average 11.1 and 10.3 boards respectively, both of which would land him in the top ten in that metric. Robinson would also average 17.7 Points per Game in his 180 Games for the team.
