Raider Nation has lost one of their great ones.  Former Quarterback, Daryle Lamonica, passed away at the age of 80 of what is to believed to be natural causes.  Nicknamed the "Mad Bomber," Daryle Lamonica signed with the Buffalo Bills of the AFL, where he saw limited playing time at Quarterback playing behind Jack Kemp.  He did get to play, however, and was a part of the Bills' 1964 and 1965 AFL Championship.  Lamonica was traded to the Oakland Raiders, and he was finally the starting QB and had the chance to show what he could do, which, as it…
One of our favorite franchise Halls of Fame, the New England Patriots Hall, has announced their three Finalists for the Class of 2022. Logan Mankins, Mike Vrabel and Vince Wilfolk are the three Finalists, and you can cast your vote here. Logan Mankins, 2005-13, Left Guard.  Mankins was the final pick of the opening round of the 2005 Draft, and the Fresno State Bulldog became a starter for the Patriots immediately.  The runner-up for the Offensive Rookie of the Year, Mankins went to six Pro Bowls for New England and was a First Team All-Pro in 2010, and four-time Second Team All-Pro.  Mankins started…

RIP: Mike Bossy

One of the most prolific goal scorers in hockey left us as Mike Bossy lost his battle with lung cancer.  He was 75 years old. From Montreal, Bossy was a First Round Pick of the New York Islanders in 1977, and he made the team immediately, scoring 53 Goals and winning the Calder Trophy.  Bossy continued to light the lamp at a lightning-like pace, leading the NHL twice, and exceeding the 50-Goal mark in his first nine seasons, and cracking 60 five times.   A five-time First Team All-Star and three-time Second Team All-Star, Bossy led the Islanders to four consecutive Stanley Cups…
The Oakland Athletics have had their share of problems over the last few decades, as they are a small market team in an awful stadium, that are constantly the subject of relocation speculation.  Add another one, as the team has upset a former superstar due to their mishandling of his impending jersey retirement.  In 2019, Oakland announced that they would retire the number 34 of Dave Stewart in 2000, but COVID postponed those plans.  The team never announced any rescheduling, leading to a fan asking Stewart on Twitter when this would be happening.  The former Pitcher responded: “I have no idea what the…

The Football world lost one of the great ones, as it was announced that former Offensive Tackle and former Dallas Cowboy, Rayfield Wright, passed away at the age of 76. Wright came to Dallas as a seventh round pick in 1967, where in his first three seasons, he was used as an Offensive Tackle, Tight End, and occasional Defensive Tackle.  By 1970, he settled in at Right Tackle, and it was there where he became one of the best at that position of all-time. Wright was named to six consecutive Pro Bowls from 1971 to 1976, and in those first…

The career of one of the most durable football players of all-time is coming to an end. Running Back, Frank Gore will be signing a one-day contract with the San Francisco 49ers, the team he had his greatest success with, and is expected to join their front office. A Third Round Pick from Miami (FL), Gore had his best year early in his career with a sophomore effort seeing Gore post career-highs in Rushing Yards (1,695) and Yards From Scrimmage (2,180).  Gore went to his first Pro Bowl that year, and was a Second Team All-Pro.  Over the next eight seasons with…
One of the things we love even more about the NCAA Final Four, is that it is the same day that the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announces its new class. Let’s get right into the newest members: Swin Cash:  Cash was one of the superstars at UConn, where she helped lead the Huskies to two NCAA Championships (2000 & 2002) and was named the Tournament MOP in the latter.  The Detroit Shock took her with the second overall pick in the 2002 Draft, where she led them to two WNBA Championships (2003 & 2006).  Cash would win a third WNBA Title with…
