Lars Umlaut

From Norway, Guitar Hero brings us Lars Umlaut, the European star of Death Matal who wears his face paint with pride and scares parents world wide. If a Guitar Hero character gets in, how can it not be Lars Umlaut?              The Bullet Points: Video Game Appeared: Guitar Hero Actor:N/A Songs you might remember:None Why you should vote for him:He does look cool. Why you should not vote for him:Have we reached the stage where we want to induct video game characters?

Laura Charles

In this 80’s cheesefest, Vanity appears as a singer who becomes the love interest for a young black Martial Arts enthusiast and devotee of Bruce Lee. Does it really matter what the plot is? All we know is that Vanity was in it, and it is a guilty pleasure movie; much like her singing was a guilty pleasure for many. The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: The Last Dragon (1985) Actor: Vanity Songs you might remember: 7th Heaven Why you should vote for her: Vanity was one of the hotter women of her day; if you remember that day, this is…

Leather Tuscadero

Played by the very capable Suzi Quatro, Leather Tuscadero appeared on seven episodes of the very successful sitcom, Happy Days.  With her punk mullet haircut, she was a little out of place (not that Happy Days cared about period authenticity after the first two seasons) but every time she appeared, she was always given a number and was usually backed by Ritchie Cunningham’s unnamed band, and in one occasion had Joanie as a backup singer.   We can’t say that her singing skills were really put to the best of use (Do the Fonzie?), but Quatro is probably better known for…

Lenny and the Squigtones

We did not know then what a musical genius that Michael McKean was, but how could we when we only knew him as Lenny from Laverne and Shirley. As it would turn out, this would be the first foray into the fictitious musical world for McKean and he wasn’t bad capturing the essence of the 1950’s. Honestly, we are thinking about making a wing in our Fictitious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame just for McKean. The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: Laverne & Shirley (1979) Actors: Michael McKean (Lenny) David Lander (Squiggy) Songs you might remember: Star Crossed Why…

Les Garcons de la Plage

Dubbed the “French Beach Boys”, Les Garcons de la Plage were also managed by Leggy Mountbatten, who managed the Rutles. All we really learned about them is that they one album (California Boys) in 1968 and was only successful on the beaches of Normandy. We really did not see more than an album cover, though like all thinks Rutles, we actually know the names of the band, and all the tracks from their lone album. This really shouldn’t have a shot, but we are a sucker for any band that regularly poses with baguettes.

Limozeen

A rare candidate in that this comes from no TV show or Film, Limozeen is from the Web Series, Homestar Runner. The band, is the favorite of Strong Bad, a major character on the series and emulates the Hair Metal genre. Does anything that is only on the Web qualify? Considering their vast fictitious history, it is not out of the realm of possibility. The Bullet Points: Web Series Appeared: Homestar Runner (2000-) Actors: Mike Chapman (Larry Palaroncini, Vocals) Matt Chapman (Gary Palaroncini, Lead Guitar) Perry Chapman (Perry Palaroncini, Bass) Matt Chapman (Mary Palaroncini, Vocals) Songs you might remember: Because…

Linda Moon

From the Get Shorty sequel, “Be Cool”, we are introduced to Linda Moon, whose talent is the main plot point of the film. Although the film was profitable, the talents of Linda Moon were not remembered and thus not profiled in print very much. Without a signature tune, is there any reason to think that it might make our Hall? We have our doubts. The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: Be Cool (2005) Actor: Christina Millan Songs you might remember: Surprisingly, none. Why you should vote for her: We are going to go with because “We smell what the Rock is…

Linda Taylor

Who knew that Andy Travis once had a famous girlfriend? When Linda Taylor came to Cincinnati (basically playing a Linda Ronstadt type) she reconnected with her old flame with the hope that she could lure him back on the road. Sadly for Taylor, Andy stayed in the Queen City as he was tired of moving “town to town up and down the dial”. The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: WKRP in Cincinnati (1978) Actor: Barrie Youngfellow Songs you might remember: None Why you should vote for her: Well…it is from WKRP. Why you should not vote for her: We don’t…

Linnea Reese

A Gospel Singer from Robert Altman’s masterpiece, “Nashville”, Linnea Reese (Lily Tomlin) was a focal point of the film and easily one of the most interesting characters in the movie. Tomlin was amazing in the ensemble piece and was nominated for the Oscar for her performance. Has she been more of a singer in this movie, we could see her as a dark horse entry for our Hall of Fame.

Lisa Simpson

For years, all we knew about Lisa Simpson’s musical ability was that she was an excellent saxophone player, but in a 2005 episode she enters the Krusty the Klown L’il Starmaker Competition and shows off moderate singing ability. We have to say moderate, because she won based on the genius (wait…we are saying genius about this man?) of Homer Simpson writing pro Springfield songs, and switching sides and penning horrible songs for her opponent. She still wasn’t a great singer, but she did win a competition.   The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: The Simpsons (1988-) Actors: Yeardley Smith Songs you…

Llewyn Davis

The Coen Brothers gave us a Cannes Award winning film in the form of “Inside Llewyn Davis” which takes a look at a week in the life of the Folk Singer in 1961. Those seven days rook place in Greenwich Village, and it captured the musical scene there almost perfectly. It was inspired by an icon of the scene, Dave Van Ronk who is probably one of the most influential musicians you never heard of. This influence certainly makes the music of the film sound genuine, which is critical for a film of this type. If this gains a cult…

Loaded Blanks

Do you remember when it looked like Ally Sheedy might have a successful movie career? After “Maid to Order”, neither did she. For our purposes, the only think worth remembering was Hair Metal band, Great White performing as “Loaded Blanks” for reasons we can’t remember.

Lola Heatherton

A diva on the downswing of her career, Lola Heatherton reminisces about her past, while still thinking she is still a huge star. Of course, the fact she is in Melonville should have tipped her off that she isn’t a big deal, but on the SCTV network she is! This has always been our favorite character from Catherine O’Hara, and way better than being Macaulay Culkin’s mom. The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: SCTV (1978-81) Actor: Catherine O’Hara Songs you might remember: None Why you should vote for her: We will maintain that this our favorite O’Hara role Why you…

Loretta Haggers

From the faux Soap Opera, Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, we have a wannabe Country Music Star in Loretta Haggers (Mary Kay Place) who was the neighbor in best friend of Mary Hartman. It was a fringe television show, but has been established as a cult show with legs. With that said, is this a show that can generate a Hall of Fame inductee? We would be shocked if it did.   The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman (1976-77) Actor: Mary Kay Place Songs you might remember: None Why you should vote for her: Mary Hartman, Mary…

Loveburger

All set to play to their first gig at a graduation party, Loverburger broke up due to creative differences, namely what they were going to wear. However, all was good as they “reunited”, though we still never heard them play as the cops busted in on the part right when they were set to play. Now, we wonder how that reunion tour went. The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: Can’t Hardly Wait (1998) Actors: Breckin Meyer (Walter, Lead Singer) Donald Faison (Dan, Drummer) Johnny Zander (Jimmy, Guitar) Alaa Khaled (Brian, Bass) Songs you might remember: None Why you should vote for…

Lucious Lyon

If you want to make your vote based on fictional success is there anyone else you can vote for other than Lucious Lyon? The patriarch of the Lyon family, Lucious Lyon is former drug dealer turned rap mogul. His success is presented on a Jay-Z level…only much higher. Younger rappers view him as an icon, and based on his perceived age, he probably would be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by this time. The only think that can stop J.R. Ewing meeting Jay-Z is the show itself and if it continues on its epic path. As of…

Lucy and the Diamonds

What a mess this was. From the stinkpot that was the 1978 film, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band we have “Lucy and the Diamonds”, which may have done the worst cover a Beatles song since William Shatner. That’s it we have had enough; we need another beer. The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (1978) Actors: Diane Steinberg and Steingard Songs you might remember: Lucy and the Sky with Diamonds Why you should vote for them: Honestly, you shouldn’t. Why you should not vote for them: This was so bad, we liked Shatner’s version better!…

Luke Falcon

Undiscovered may have been one of the worst films of all time, and for those who may disagree, it is still the film with the highest drop off from week one to week two in the box office. One of the top roles was played by Steven Strait who played aspiring singer, Luke Falcon who may or may not have made it. Frankly, we couldn’t make it to the end to find out.

Lurleen Lumpkin

When Homer Simpson discovers a female country singer (in the part of the world that does not serve Duff, but Fudd instead) we were introduced to Lurleen Lumpkin. She would take the fictional Country music world by storm under the early guidance of “Colonel” Homer, and for an episode that lasted only twenty-two minutes many Simpsons fans remember the songs from the episode. The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: The Simpsons (1992) Actor: Beverly D’Angelo Songs you might remember: Bunk with me Tonight Your Wife Don’t Understand You Finally Bagged me a Homer Stand by Your Manager Why you should…

Mac Sledge

Robert Duvall is one of the greatest actors of all time, and he won his lone Best Actor Oscar for his role as alcoholic Country Singer, Mac Sledge in Tender Mercies. Duvall looked the part perfectly as the tormented singer looking for redemption, and unlike other singing portrayals, Duvall sang his own songs. The best case we think for induction is that the members of the Outlaw Country Movement, of which Duvall seemed to channel, believed that he hit it out of the park, and that kind of praise should not (and cannot) be ignored. The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared:…

Marie DeSalle

You will have to forgive our irrational crush on Lisa Bonet, but she was at her sultry best in High Fidelity where with her long dreadlocks and extended cameo with John Cusack we could not help but watch over and over again. Come one…we can’t be the only ones can we? The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: High Fidelity (2000) Actor: Lisa Bonet Songs you might remember: I Love Your Way Why you should vote for her: How about because you also have a crush on Lisa Bonet? Why you should not vote for her: We completely agree that there is…

Mary Rose Foster "The Rose"

Originally intended to be a biopic of Janis Joplin, “The Rose” stars Bette Midler as Mary Rose Foster (nicknamed the Rose) as a drug and alcohol addicted singer in the late 60’s. She is loud, brash, talented but massively insecure and Midler takes this character through a roller coaster and earned an Oscar nomination for her performance. The film also generated a hit song (also named the Rose) that played during the end credits. If people remember this film, this has a solid shot. The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: The Rose (1979) Actor: Bette Midler Songs you might remember: The…

Master Genius

From the Sopranos, we had a brief glimpse at a Hip Hop mogul named Master Genius who ogled Adriana La Cerva and failed to extort money from Hesh. We also never really learned about any of his raps. Wait, why he is on the ballot again? The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: The Sopranos (1999) Actor: Bokeem Woodbine Songs you might remember: None Why you should vote for him: We are assuming that he is the Jay Z of the Sopranos Universe. Why you should not vote for him: He may have been a Hip Hop success, but we only…

Max Frost and the Troopers

“Wild in the Streets” is one of the ultimate cult films whereby Max Frost; a millionaire by 19 and a politician by 24 looks to take over the American Political landscape which is what he did by lobbying to lower the voting age to 14. After he does so, with the youth vote he becomes the President and puts everyone over the age of 35 in concentration camps. Damn, we love these cheesy films!           The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: Wild in the Streets (1968) Actors: Christopher Jones (Max Frost, Lead Singer) Kevin Coughlin (Billy Cage, Lead Guitar) Diane Varisi…

MC Skat Kat

The only way to make Paula Abdul worse was to pair up with a rapping cartoon cat. In the video of her number one hit (How the hell did happen?) “Opposites Attract” she performed with MC Skat Kat, which is viewed today as the “Poochie” of the music video world. How this annoying cartoon made anybody buy this album is beyond us, but at the very least Paula Abdul was not the least watchable thing in her videos. Amazingly, this crappy cat got its own album, which as best as we can tell, nobody bought. Thank God for that, or…
