Don Jardine was wrestling for years with various personas and numerous promotions but it was when he donned a mask and dubbed himself “The Spoiler” that he became a star. The mask gave Jardine an aura and a new level of confidence. He had a move set that featured a brutal claw hold (he was one of the few who could pull off that submission hold with believability) and was able to use the top rope with ease. Like the Undertaker does today, The Spoiler was able to walk the top rope with is astounding feat for a wrestler of any size. Jardine took his act across the country and though he rarely stayed anyplace long he managed to really make marks in Texas, North Carolina and Japan.
Jardine did compete in the WWF at times, although his last run was largely forgettable. If the Hall were to look at evolution of skills, he would have a shot; though we really still haven’t figured out what they are looking for.
