2003 Pro Football Hall of Fame Revisited Project Class. Here we are! Again!! If you have been following our Pro Football Hall of Fame Revisited Project, you know we have asked the question: What if the PFHOF had begun in January 1946? After soliciting and obtaining a passionate group of football fans and historians, we sent out a ballot for a Preliminary Vote, in which each voter selected 25 names as their semi-finalists and five names for the Senior Pool. We then asked the group to vote for their 15 Finalists in the Modern Era and 3 in the Senior…
We are bringing it back! In previous years, we ran the Notinhalloffame NBA Cup, where we awarded points in descending order (5, 4, 3, 2, 1) to the top five players in every game, and at the end of the season, we awarded the Cup to the player with the most points. Here is what we look at: Traditional Statistics: It is obvious what we mean here: points, rebounds, steals, and blocks…the core group of statistics that we look at in any box score. Plus/Minus/Shooting Percentage: This is a stat that we love. It's fine if you dropped 30 points,…
Yesterday, the Pro Football Hall of Fame announced the five contributor finalists for the Class of 2027. Today, they announced the final five coaching candidates, and we know the man Jim Porter (and many others) wants in…that is Bill Belichick, one of the five. The five were cut from a group of 14, with the other nine being unknown. For reference, the sub-committee members are Jared Allen (NFL Hall of Fame Defensive End), Jarrett Bell (NFL Reporter for USA Today), Vic Carucci (NFL Analyst for WGRZ in Buffalo), Peter Dougherty (Green Bay Packers beat writer for the Green Bay Press-Gazette),…
The Pro Football Hall of Fame…made a choice. Months ago, the Canton-based institution announced sweeping changes that cut the voting pool from 50 to 25, largely in response to Bill Belichick’s snub last year. Jim Porter, the Chairman and CEO, was openly upset and promised changes to ensure that “the voters are selecting the absolute best candidates who are on the ballot.” Translation: the voters did not pick who they should have. The first move was gutting the committee, and by October, we were waiting for the preliminary lists, which usually dropped in September. After Halloween and the start of…
The baseball season might be over, but that means the Baseball Hall of Fame season has begun. This morning, the Baseball Hall of Fame announced the eight-man Contemporary Ballot, featuring four managers and four executives for consideration for the Class of 2026. Here are the candidates: Sandy Alderson: Oakland Athletics General Manager 1983-97, MLB Executive Vice President 1998-2005, San Diego Padres CEO 2005-09 & New York Mets General Manager 2011-18 & President 2021-23. A member of the Athletics Hall of Fame, Alderson built a team that won three straight American League Pennants (1988-89), and won it all in 1989. He…
RIP: Jerry Koosman
Nov 02, 2026
Baseball lost a great hurler when Jerry Koosman passed away this morning at age 83. He spent most of his career with the New York Mets, was a two-time All-Star (1968 and 1969), and is best known as a member of the Miracle Mets that shocked the sporting world with a World Series Championship in 1969. Koosman also played for Minnesota, Chicago (AL), and Philadelphia, and over his 19-year career, he posted a 222-209 record with 2,556 strikeouts. We at notinhalloffame.com extend our condolences to the fans, friends, and family of Jerry Koosman.
2003 SEMI-FINAL RESULTS: Thank you for your participation in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Revisited Project. If you are unaware of what that is, we acted like the PFHOF had its first class in January 1946. We have completed the years up to 2002. For “2003,” a Preliminary Vote with nearly 100 players whose playing career ended by 1997. We also follow the structure in which players have 20 years of eligibility, and if they do not make it into the Hall, they are relegated to the Senior Pool. Each voter was asked to select 25 names from the…
Yes, we know that this is taking a while! As many of you know, we at Notinhalloffame.com are slowly generating the top 50 of each major North American sports team. As for all of our top 50 players in football, we look at the following: 1. Duration and Impact. 2. Traditional statistics and how they finished in the National Football League. 3. Advanced Statistics. 4. Playoff performance. 5. Their respective legacy on…
