8. Gangrel - Blood

Gangrel was never more that mid-card character in the WWF, and realistically a vampire character probably was only going to go so far.  The highlight for me of a Gangrel match was his entrance, and well that was about it.

You have to admit that David Heath went all in on the character.  With his stringy blonde hair, puffy white shirt and fangs (he actually had them done) he looked like a jacked up Lost Boy.  He came up from the below the stage emerging from a ring of fire, which instead of looking hokey came off as spooky and somewhat terrifying.

You know what helped the most right?

His theme music of course.

There are varying opinions as to what “vampire music” might be, a very open for interpretation genre considering there are no such thing as vampires), but pop culture has constantly been trying to tell us what it is.  Jim Johnston’s take began with eerie chanting in a nonsensical tongue (Latin inspired perhaps?) and than breaking out into to a pop-industrial beat.  Johnston had never created anything like this before, and arguably hasn’t since.

Frankly, isn’t the theme that what we all miss most about Gangrel?
