The first time that most wrestling fans saw Rene Goulet it was at the tail end of his career where “the #1 Frenchman” would usually go down to defeat against the new babyface in the WWF.  Goulet was a great choice for that role, as even in his 50’s Rene Goulet was among the best conditioned and dependable workers on the card.

His final years in wrestling were very similar to the rest of his career; Goulet could make anyone look good and it was usually at his own expense.  He did not collect a lot of titles, but it his wrestlers like Rene Goulet who was essential to making stars.  Considering his long service with the WWE (ten years as a road agent following his retirement), Rene Goulet could very well be considered for the Hall.
