When James Harris adopted the gimmick of a “Ugandan Headhunter”, he stumbled upon one of most bizarre yet memorable personas in wrestling history.  With his painted face and stomach, Kamala was a large savage who looked like he could destroy anybody and then eat them for dinner.

The Kamala character was perfect for the territory system.  He was brought in to different areas as a monster heel destroying the mid card baby faces and challenging the regions champion.  Upon defeat he would lose to a few mid card faces on the way out and than go to a different promotion and do it all over again.  It was such a good gimmick, this formula worked three times in the nationally promoted WWF.  The sad thing for James Harris for as many people who paid money to see him perform, he never saw much of that money.  Perhaps the WWE could throw him a bone and induct an entertainer who gave us one of the best gimmicks of all time.
