Stan Stasiak

Although he was considered a transitional champion (bridging the WWF World Championship by beating Pedro Morales and losing the title to Bruno Sammartino a week later), you have to be considered a solid wrestler to have been given the strap in the first place.

As one of the more rugged combatants of the 70’s, Stan “The Man” Stasiak was always one of the top heels in whatever territory he performed in.  Stasiak holds the interesting distinction of being the only wrestler to challenge Bruno Sammartino, Pedro Morales, Nick Bockwinkle, Superstar Billy Graham, Terry Funk & Bob Backlund for their respective World Heavyweight Titles.  Anyone with those credentials was definitely a wrestler who promoters could see as a viable challenger and thus a wrestler with Hall of Fame potential.
