The Dregs of Humanity

Jason Bateman’s first shot in a leading role was in a pre Ferris Beuller role as a young con man in a 1984 Sitcom, It’s Your Move. The show only lasted one season, but it is still a favorite among many for the era, and when it is discussed, usually it is the “Dregs of Humanity” who are referenced.

The Dregs were actually science class skeletons that Bateman put together to appear at the school dance after his dufus friend (Eli) lost the money to hire the original band. With fog, lights, lots of string and prerecorded Heavy Metal, the band was a hit, and is actually interviewed by Norman (who played Bateman’s mother’s boyfriend), which would be sold to Rolling Stone Magazine. The band is killed off when they no show a sold out concert (remember, they were an instant hit) and it is later revealed that they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Now how can we ignore them for the Fictitious Hall with that nugget of information?
