Generally we think hockey fans can name every Hart Trophy winner as almost all of them have made the Hockey Hall of Fame, but we are expecting that most of you have totally forgotten about Tom Anderson.

A decent Defenceman in his career, Tom Anderson played eight seasons in the NHL, the last seven of which were with the New York Americans.  Anderson was an above average offensive Defenseman and Hart Trophy voters were impressed enough with his 41 Point Season (8th Overall) to award him the coveted league MVP in the 1941-42 season, which would actually would be his final season in the NHL as he would sign up to join the Canadian Army to fight in World War II.

Coincidently this would be the last season of the existence of the New York Americans (renamed the Brooklyn Americans that year for what it is worth) and Anderson would be the last non-Original Six player until Bobby Clarke to win the Hart.  When Anderson returned to North America after the war, he elected not to return to professional hockey.
