Football lost a legend as Dick Schafrath passed away today at the age of 84. Stepping in from Ohio State with the Cleveland Browns, Schafrath maintained the high level that coaches expected at the position of Left Tackle.  He protected the weak side brilliantly but used his powerful frame to create holes for Cleveland backs.  In fact, on eight occasions, Cleveland Browns’ Running Backs won the rushing title with Schafrath anchoring the left side. As many of you know, we here at Notinhalloffame.com are slowly generating the 50 of each major North American sports team.  That being said, we have existing Top 50 lists out and we always consistently look to update them when we can and based on necessity.  As such, we are very happy to present our pre-2021-22 revision of our top 50 Boston Celtics. Baltimore Orioles slugger, Chris Davis, announced his retirement today, citing issues with his hip.  He last played in this year’s spring training opener. Davis first reached the Majors with the Texas Rangers in 2008 but was traded to Baltimore during the 2011 Season.  After blasting 33 Home Runs in 2012, Davis exploded with league-leading 53 Home Runs and 138 RBIs.  An All-Star that season, Davis finished third in MV voting and was also a Silver Slugger.  Davis again won the Home Run Title in 2015 with 47 taters. The world of hockey lost one of the best Goalies of all-time, as it was revealed that Tony Esposito passed away at the age of 78 following a long battle with pancreatic cancer. The younger brother of Phil Esposito, Tony Esposito first made the NHL as a member of the Montreal Canadiens in 1968/69 where he appeared in 13 Games.  The Chicago Blackhawks claimed the pioneer of the butterfly style the following year in the Intra-League Draft, and the Windy City would be the last professional stop of his career. RIP: Bobby Bowden

It feels like we are losing so many great ones.  Today we lost another. Bobby Bowden, who was the Head Coach of at Florida State from 1976 to 2009 passed away at the age of 91 following a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Bowden played Quarterback at Howard College (Samford) and he would become an assistant coach there shortly after.  He later became the Head Coach at South Georgia State College (1956), and returned to Samford as their Head Coach in 1959.  His solid work there got him to big time, first at Florida State as the Wide Receivers Coach (1963), and then…

RIP: J.R. Richard

It was announced today that J.R. Richard, the flamethrowing Pitcher best known for his time with the Houston Astros, died at the age of 71. A ten-year veteran, Richard posted a lifetime record of 107-71 with 1,493 Strikeouts and a 3.13 ERA.  His best season was in 1979, when his 313 Strikeouts were then a team record.  He was one of the first players who threw for a recorded 100 mph.   In 1980, his career was abruptly halted when he suffered a stroke in late July, only weeks after he started for the National League in the All-Star Game. RIP: Bobby Eaton

The sadness in professional wrestling continues.  “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton, best known for his tag team work in the Midnight Express, passed away at the age of 62.  It is not known at this time how he passed. Eaton debuted in 1976 after being trained by Tojo Yamamoto, and would quickly be used in various tag teams.  One of the most natural in-ring workers in the business, Eaton was regarded by his peers as one of the best.   His career really took off when he first teamed with “Loverboy” Dennis Condrey, managed by Jim Cornette, as the Midnight Express.  They drew money in Mid South,…
