Spencer Haywood
After a short but stellar college career at Detroit University which included averaging a 20/20 and leading the 68 Olympic team to gold, Haywood challenged the system and was the first hardship case. The NBA wouldn't have him so he played in the ABA where he had a 30/20 year and was voted league MVP. The NBA came knocking this time and Haywood subsequently jumped leagues. He averaged 20 and 12 for four years in Seattle getting two first and two Second Team All Leagues. He faded a bit bouncing from team to team but came back and got a ring with the Lakers in the early 80's. Haywood was a true superstar and trail blazer that should have been elected years ago. His enshrinement is being held up by the negative ABA bias and a bad rap about his attitude. This is a travesty as Haywood is one of the greatest power forwards ever.

  • Buffalo Tom
Although they were initially labeled as a Dinosaur Jr. rip off, Buffalo Tom persevered and by the middle of the 90’s, they were one of the more solid Alternative acts in the United States. They altered their sound and it seemed like they were on the verge of a major mainstream breakthrough. This didn’t happen, but they did earn a…
